UCV COVID-19 PANDEMIC RESPONSE PLAN
United Church of the Valley has developed this plan, in cooperation with CDC and UCC/DOC
conference guidelines, to govern the safe resumption of in-person gatherings.
Precautions:
• Online worship services will continue even after the threat of COVID-19 is passed.
• Face coverings will be required for everyone ages 2 and up for all in-person gatherings.
• Gathering areas will be cleaned prior to use and frequently touched surfaces will be disinfected
between meetings, e.g. door handles, light fixtures. bathroom fixtures, chairs, etc.
• Hand sanitizer will be made available at entrance to sanctuary and outside of restrooms.
Phase 1 – Weekly rate of COVID-19 cases in Murrieta and Temecula steady or increasing:
• Online worship services only.
• No in-person small group gatherings or meetings.
• Church building and offices closed.
Phase 2 – Weekly rate of COVID-19 cases in Murrieta and Temecula decreasing for 4 weeks:
• In-person worship services of 25 maximum.
• Physical distancing of 6 feet between individuals or household groups.
• No congregational singing; soloists must keep 15 feet of distance from congregation.
• Children stay with family – no children or youth programs.
• No passing of the Peace, no offering plates or registers, no passing of communion elements.
• No fellowship gatherings before or after service.
• Council to establish small group meeting guidelines.
Phase 3 – Weekly rate of COVID-19 cases in Murrieta and Temecula decreasing for 8 weeks:
• In-person worship services of 50 maximum.
• Physical distancing of 3 feet between individuals or household groups.
• No congregational singing; soloists must keep 15 feet of distance from congregation.
• Children stay with family – no children or youth programs.
• No passing of the Peace, no offering plates or registers, no passing of communion elements.
• Limited fellowship gatherings before or after service.
• Limited small group meetings.
Phase 4 – Vaccine available or “herd immunity” achieved:
• All in-person church activities resume.
