Children-The past 4 years we have used the Seasons of the Spirit program. It is lectionary based and very compatible with our progressive theology. Each lesson includes the scripture passage and a wide selection of follow-up activities that reinforce the key ideas of the scripture. The lessons are engaging and relevant and easy to prepare for and teach. We tried something new this year regarding teachers. We had our teacher volunteers sign up on a 6 Month Signup Sheet. We asked that teachers sign up for 3-4 concurrent weeks so as to give some continuity for the children.
"Welcome Bags" were donated for children of visitors. In these bags are crayons, pictures, puzzles, books, stickers, etc and they are located on the visitor's table. To help children understand worship and the importance of giving back, paper banks are available for the children so they can participate in the offering by bringing in coins to place in the plate.
Children of all ages are welcome at every service and babies/toddlers re often cared for by youth or other adults.
